What is an event? • Pop-up • Busking • Carnivals/Festivals • Markets • Sidewalk Sales • Races/Walks • Parades • Concert • Celebrations/Special Events/ Big Party
"Special Events" means any transient amusement enterprise, outdoor temporary gathering, and anysimilar event that is to occur on city-owned or controlled property and/or requires support of city staff, financial or other resources. Events include but not limited to a fundraiser, theatrical exhibition, musical performance, public show, entertainment, amusement or other exhibition.
Events = Temporary Use • All property has an established use(s) via zoning. • Why regulate temporary uses? • Reasonably allow land uses on a temporary basis that are not appropriate on a long term basis. • Maintain health, safety, and welfare of the surrounding area and the greater community. • Provide predictable outcomes for applicant and community • Promote economic development. • Allow reasonable accessory uses to a principle permitted use. • Encourage the use of underused land.
