  2. Aims of the Trip • To encourage the children to challenge themselves • To teach the children how to manage risks in a controlled environment • To encourage the children to solve problems as a team • To encourage independence in the children

Departure & Return Departing: Wednesday 13th March at 10:45am from the Lych Gate Leave cases from 8:30 in the New Hall Any medications to the first aiders in the New Hall All children need a packed lunch for the first day! Friday 15th March Children will have lunch at Hillcrest Depart at approximately 1:30pm Arrive back at school by 3:30pm from the classroom fire doors

  5. Medical Matters • If your child is asthmatic, could you please make sure that they bring 2 inhalers (clearly labelled). • Please complete all of the medical forms in your pack and ensure that any particular needs are clearly indicated. • On the morning of our departure , please hand any medication to Adam Fisher (coach 1) or Mrs Powell (coach 2) clearly labelled. • Nightingales – Coach 1,Finches – Coach 2 • Larks will be split, children told nearer the time.

  6. Food There is lots of choice available for each meal, including a vegetarian option and a salad bar. Three meals a day are provided. There is such a good choice of food that nobody will go hungry. Special dietary needs are catered for and children can check what is available for them to eat using a notice board. Special diets, including food allergies (nuts etc.), should be notified on the medical form.

  7. Accommodation Dormitories with toilet and shower facilities close by are all within the main building. Hagley staff rooms are spread out through the building. Dining room & meeting room. PGL staff will take the children on an orientation on arrival. PGL staff will organise a fire drill soon after arrival.

  8. Accommodation continued… Children will need to bring a sleeping bag and pillow. Please ask your child to practise putting their sleeping bag away.

Ideas for kit list – Available on the website and in your pack • Several warm tops with sleeves • Warm jacket/coat + one for the mud challenge or old warm hoodie • Track suit bottoms • Pyjamas • Socks and underwear • Washing kit and towel • Hat and gloves • Trainers (including an old pair for wet/muddy activities) • JEANS ONLY TO TRAVEL IN • Strong plastic bag to take wet clothes home in • Water bottle - named Please label all items! PGL request that only roll-on deodorants are taken PLEASE PACK WITH YOUR CHILD

Money and Valuables • THE CHILDREN MAY TAKE: • Maximum of £10 pocket money – clearly marked purse or wallet (hand to class teacher on the Wednesday morning) • Children may take a disposable camera – clearly named. • PLEASE DO NOT SEND: • Any valuable items including MOBILE PHONES, MP3 PLAYERS, IPOD/PADs or CAMERAS.The children will not have time to use these items and their safety cannot be guaranteed.

  12. Communications We request that the children DO NOTtake mobile phones due to risk of loss or damage. Staff will be in contact with the school daily. If any parents need to contact us in an emergency please call the school. We will have contact details for all children and we will contact you if we need to. In an absolute emergencyoutside of school hours, please contact the Hillcrest office and a member of staff will get a message to us. TEL: 01989 764202

  13. Consent forms • Please complete and sign all consent forms in the information packs. • Don’t forget the double sided form • Please return them (in the named plastic wallets) to Mr Ayers by Wednesday 3rd March

  14. Insurance Standard insurance: • Your child is insured to travel to and from the PGL site and for all of the activities which they will be taking part in. • They are covered under the school’s insurance for the journey to and from Hillcrest as with any school trip. • Once the children arrive at the centre, they are covered by the PGL insurance, which is included in the cost of the trip. Additional Insurance: • If you have annual family travel insurance, your child may be covered as part of your package – you will need to inform your provider. • If you wish to do so, you can take out additional insurance for your child at your own discretion.
