Supporting Animal Conservation with. Who am I?.
E N D
Who am I? My name is Joe Kirkham. I have been raising money for animal conservation since I was 7 years old. At first I tried to help a big national organization. Then I started seeing that there were a lot of smaller organizations around my home that needed money. I figured they needed the cash and any amount would help them.
My Organizations • I want to raise money for different local groups but I have been focusing on the Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge (www.fwnaturecenter.org) and Big Cat Care (Center for Animal Research & Education, bigcatcare.org).
The Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge • The Fort Worth Nature Center and Refuge (FWNC&R) is located just inside the city limits and close to Azle, TX. The FWNC&R is a HUGE forest with big trees and lots of hiking paths. • The FWNC&R is home to all types of wildlife. The naturalists make several learning encounters throughout the year with some of them including snakes, tarantulas and my pet-project, the owls. • There are over 3600 acres of nature. • The FWNC&R is one of the largest city-owned nature centers in the United States. • There are over 20 miles of hiking trails. • There is a staff naturalists at the Hardwicke Interpretive Center that help lead tours. • The FWNC&R is located on the northwest side of Fort Worth, four miles west of I-820 on Jacksboro Hwy. (TX Hwy 199).
Big Cat Care • The Center for Animal Research & Education, (CARE) was founded to provide for the rescue, rehabilitation, and holistic nurturing of sick, injured or abused big cats thus ensuring a vital habitat and safe haven for them to live in comfort and with dignity. Further, with public education and research, to ultimately ensure the future of the species. • Located in Bridgeport, TX (about 45 minutes away), you can set up a tour of the facility for a small donation fee. The fee goes toward feeding the cats.
www.joebites.net • I started a blog last year called “Joe Bites.” In this blog I talk about all types of animal conservation stuff including interviews I have with people in conservation. I take lots of pictures of wildlife and nature and I put that on Joe Bites. I also have links to the FWNC&R and Big Cat Care as well as other organizations.
www.joebites.net • I also put little facts, mostly about wildlife on Joe Bites. It’s a section called “Animal Facts.”
Joe Sent Me! • On my blog I have a page called “Raising $ with Joe Sent Me!” • This is a page that I use for selling Joe Sent Me! t-shirts. The proceeds of these sales go to the FWNC&R and Big Cat Care.
Other Fundraising Efforts • I’ve done other things to help raise money for the FWNC&R and Big Cat Care. • I have donation jars set up on my dad’s store counter. Last holiday I wrapped presents for a donation. I also set up a small display at my dad’s store now and then so I can talk about the organizations and collect donations.
Your Donation can HELP! • Selling t-shirts has been great but I still want to do more. I’d like ask you for a small corporate donation of $25 or more from your company. You can decide between which organization it will support (FWNC&R or Big Cat Care) or you can split it between both.
Tax Exempt • Both the FWNC&R through “The Friends of the FWNC&R” and Big Cat Care are 501 (3)(C) organizations. If you make a donation to either place you can write it off on your taxes. • The Friends of the FWNC&R: # 17514957178 • Big Cat CARE: EIN #03-0520301
What You Get for Donating • You’ll get listed on my blog at www.joebites.net as a Joe Sent Me! Special Donor. • You’ll get mentioned as a Joe Sent Me! Special Donor in all our press releases that we send.
The BEST thing you will get! • The BEST thing you will get as being a corporate donor to Joe Sent Me! is the satisfaction of helping some great organizations like the FWNC&R and Big Cat Care. They do a really great job with very little money. If you have not been to either place, take a trip one weekend and pay them a visit. It’s a nice place for your family to visit and it’s a great place to go on a date! THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!
