Window to His City Lilliputian logic The Lilliputians inhabit the first island Gulliver visits. They all stand about six inches tall, with proportionally tiny buildings and trees and horses. The Lilliputians are ruled by an Emperor who appoints his high court officials according to their skills with rope dancing rather than their actual abilities. In other words, they're not exactly governed according to rational principles. The court of Lilliput mostly seems to spend its time plotting against one another
Living Liturgy pt3... ”Embracing a Third Way” Psalms 99-101
The Lord reigns! Let the peoples tremble. He is enthroned between the cherubim. Let the earth quake. The Lord is great in Zion; he is exalted above all the peoples. Let them praise your great and awe-inspiring name. He is holy. Psalm 99:1-3 CSB
The mighty King loves justice. You have established fairness; you have administered justice and righteousness in Jacob. Exalt the Lord our God; bow in worship at his footstool. He is holy. Psalm 99:4-5 CSB
Moses and Aaron were among his priests; Samuel also was among those calling on his name. They called to the Lord and he answered them. He spoke to them in a pillar of cloud; they kept his decrees and the statutes he gave them. Lord our God, you answered them. You were a forgiving God to them, but an avenger of their sinful actions. Psalm 99:6-8 CSB
Exalt the Lord our God; bow in worship at his holy mountain, for the Lord our God is holy. Psalm 99:9 CSB
“The Old 100th” Psalm 100
Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth! Serve the Lord with gladness; come before His presence with singing. Know that the Lord, He is God; it is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture. Psalm 100:1-3 MEV
Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise; be thankful to Him, and bless His name. For the Lord is good; His mercy endures forever, and His faithfulness to all generations. Psalm 100:4-5 MEV

King David’s Mission Statement Psalm 101
I will sing of mercy and justice; to You, O Lord, I will sing. I will consider the path that is blameless. [When will You come to me?] I will walk within my house with a perfect heart. Psalm 101:1-2 MEV
For King David... Home and work were the same place...we should approach our lives the same way
I will sing of mercy and justice; to You, O Lord, I will sing. I will consider the path that is blameless. [When will You come to me?] I will walk within my house with a perfect heart. Psalm 101:1-2 MEV
The Scandal of the Reformation Learning from our Puritan fathers
I will set no wicked thing before my eyes. I hate the work of those who turn aside; it shall not have part of me. A perverted heart shall be far from me; I will not know anything wicked. Psalm 101:3-4 MEV
Whoever slanders their neighbor in secret, I will put to silence; whoever has haughty eyes and a proud heart, I will not tolerate. My eyes will be on the faithful in the land, that they may dwell with me; the one whose walk is blameless will minister to me. Psalm 101:5-6 NIV
No one who practices deceit will dwell in my house; no one who speaks falsely will stand in my presence. Every morning I will put to silence all the wicked in the land; I will cut off every evildoer from the city of the Lord. Psalm 101:7-8 NIV
“Embracing a third way” Walter Hilton, Martha and Mary
Assembly line mentality vs a 3rd way...blessed and sent
As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!” 41 “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, 42 but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:38-42 NIV
Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. When Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went out to meet him, but Mary stayed at home. Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” “Yes, Lord,” she replied, “I believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.” John 11:5,20,25-27 NIV
By themselves, Martha and Mary got 1/2 the story... But together they show us the 3rd way
