  2. Oklahoma–Combining the bridge analysis system, Vertis, with automated permit and routing system. Allows for expanded vehicles and routes available to the automated permit system Scheduled completion in March plus testing Technology

Idaho– Modernizing the entire Division of Motor Vehicles system: • Data cleansing – accurate customer records and credentials issued • Completion of repository containing all DMV data in stable database for accurate reporting • Investigation of current processes to increase efficiency and customer service • Researching permitting systems to include in modernization efforts Technology

North Dakota – Launched automated permit/routing system in June 2013. • 80% of all permits purchased online require no review by permit office • Auto issued and purchased immediately • Continue to improve efficiency of System • Routine permits requiring review take approximately 10 to 20 minutes Technology

  5. Washington • Washington requires that a carrier know the route they will take. WA provides the information to plan your route: • Weight restrictions on bridges • Active project restrictions (time of day, or day of the week) • Vertical clearance information for all structures   • Working to provide this information in a format that would be easier for the customer to review Technology

Idahois restricted to 105,500 lbs. legal maximum on interstates for divisible loads. • 35 state highways authorize 129,000 lbs. divisible loads with a permit. • There is a Legislative move to authorize the higher weights on more non-interstate highways. • Customers request additional routes, then ITD will: • Request comments from stakeholders, Review thoroughly • Analyze request with engineering and safety criteria • Accept, reject or request additional information • ITD will hold a public hearing for stakeholders if contested Legislation

  8. Review Routes Annually • Add new routes that can accommodate loads • Remove routes that are too restrictive Review Designated Routes

  9. Two States • Five-day permit • Three States • Seven-day permit • Four or more States • Ten-day permit Increased Date Ranges Unforeseen delays may occur

  10. Western Regional Permit is issued - All affected states on the route receive an e-mailed copy of the permit Each member state has a dedicated mailbox Enhances accounting oversight Helps enforcement personnel Allows for checking of states fees and information Notification of Permits Issued

  11. Enforcement on violations only for the state where load is contacted Void permit only for the state where enforcement is taken Permit violation in one state may not be a violation in another Clarification of Enforcement
