SIMPLE PAST TENSE We use simple past tense to tell actions and habit in the pas time. Simple past is often used to tell story happened in the past. Simple present : She wears red t’shirt. Dad is not in his office. Simple past: She wore red t-shirt two days ago. Dad was not in his office last night.

PRACTICE Complete the sentences using the simple past tense of the verbs in the box! I had a wonderful time last Sunday I (pergi) to Wilie’s party. (apakah) Archie (memainkan) the piano? NARRATIVE STORY Narrative story is used to entertaint or tell a story, it ussualy uses simple past tense. Examples: Cinderela Snow white The rabbit and Turtle Aladin Rapunzel
The Rabbit and The Turtle Once rabbit was roaming near lake in a forest. Suddenly he saw a turtle and mocked at him and saying “hurry up, you slow coach! Don’t you find life very dull taking so long to cover a few days? I could have run to the other side of the lake by now”, the turtle felt teased and dared the rabbit to a race. The race was to be through the wood to a fixed goal. The rabbit agreed laughingly, in a few minutes he was away and out of sight. “What a funny race it is!” he said to himself, “I am already half-away through, but it is too-too cold, why not have a nap in the warm shunsine?” the turtle walked steadily on and on, in a short time, he passed by the sleping rabbit. The rabbit slept far longer then he had intended. When he woke up at last, he looked around in surprissed and said to himself, “Not even a sigh of the poor turtle anywhere so far, I had better trot a long and finish the race.” The rabbit ran to the goal. He was amazed to see all animals cheering the turtle who had arrived just a minite earlier. How ashamed he felt indeed!
EXPRESSING DOUBT I’m not sure. I’m not really sure. I don’t know for sure. I doubt it. Example: A : Storm will come this afternoon. B : I doubt it. The sun is shining. A : You’ll see. I can feel the clouds coming.
