Overview / Goals • Modify an existing toy • Design our own toy with modifications • Motivation • Existing methods are pricey • Toys themselves not designed for handicapped children, especially older children

General Characteristics for a Toy • Keep the child’s interests in mind • Know the child’s capabilities • for mechanical operation of the toy • for understanding the toy

Switch Casing • Plastic • Circle inside of a circle • Springs or rubber under inner circle
Work Completed • Research • disabilities • adaptive toys • subject’s interests • Design of circuit
Current Work • Fixing the circuit • making it run off of a 9-volt battery • changing some of the circuit components to make it work consistently • making it non-retriggerable • Develop battery interrupter
Future Work • Put in circuit in casing • Apply the circuit to one of the subject’s toys that she likes to play with • Design a toy specifically aimed at her needs with the adaptation in place
