Volunteer Program OMGHA operates on a volunteer basis 14 hours/credits required for 1st player 20 hours/credits required for 2+ players Volunteer Deposit Check Deposit Form + $500 deposit per player Hours must be completed by March 31, 2015. Volunteer Buyout No-Show Policy Parents are responsible for claiming and completing their hours Certain roles are exempt Head Coach – 20 volunteer hours Assistant Coach – 14 volunteer hours Traveling Team Manager – 20 volunteer hours

Bantam Try-out Dates • Goalie Pre-Skate – Saturday, September 27th • Goalie Try-out – Sunday, September 28th • AA Try-out starts – Saturday, October 4th • A-C Pre-Skate – Saturday, October 4th & 5th • A-C Try-out starts – Tuesday, October 7th • B-C Try-out continues – Saturday, October 11th • B-C Try-out ends – Tuesday, October 14th

  10. PeeWee Try-out Dates • Goalie Pre-Skate – Saturday, September 27th • Goalie Try-out – Sunday, September 28th • AA Try-out starts – Saturday, October 4th • A-C Pre-Skate – Saturday, October 4th & 5th • A-C Try-out starts – Thursday, October 9th • B-C Try-out ends – Wednesday, October 15th

Season Start-End Date, Tournaments Hockey Starts Most teams will start the week after try-outs are completed First Skills Night – 1st Week of November Hockey Ends (late February/mid March) PeeWee AA State Tournament – Woodbury PeeWee A State Tournament - Lakeville PeeWee B1 State Tournament – Rochester Tournaments – PeeWee AA – Up to 5 Tournaments (up to 2 out of town) PeeWee A-C – 4 Tournaments (1 out of town)

Try-out Process Highlights (Non-Parent) • Non-Parent Coaches and/or Independent Evaluators will be asked to evaluate the players in order to put them in ranked order. • Each day will have equal weighting for their scores. • The non-parent coaching staff will select the team. • Goalies will be evaluated by a minimum of 3 Non-Parent and/or Independent Evaluators through a combination of goalie specific try-out drills (Goalie Try-outs) as well as through skater/team placement try-outs. • Each day’s try-out score will have equal weighting for goalies and skaters.

  14. Try-out Process Highlights (Parent) • A minimum of 4 external skater evaluators. • External evaluators will evaluate players during the 1st and 2nd on-ice sessions to gain the top 20 players. • The parent coach and his coaching staff will not be allowed at the tryout until the top 20 players to are chosen by the external evaluators. • A minimum of two external evaluators will continue evaluating the players during the extended try-out process • The head coach and coaching staff will lead the extended tryout process (scrimmage and practices) • The coaching staff will not have contact with the external evaluators during the try-out process • Each day’s score will have equal weighting throughout the try-out process

  15. Try-out Process Highlights • AA Extended – Up to 20 players and 3 goalies will be selected for the AA extended try-outs. • Players may be released from the AA tryout process at anytime. • The extended process consists of one practice and 2 scrimmages • The Bantam AA tryout process may continue beyond the extended sessions. Players not released after the extended sessions will participate in a local tournament. • Players participating in final AA extended tryout session (i.e., top 18), but not making the AA team, will be automatically placed on the A team roster.

Try-out Process Highlights • Closed Try-out Process - (except games) • Player Sportsmanship – Players conduct will be considered throughout the try-out process both on and off ice (i.e., checking from behind, blatant penalties, locker room behavior, etc.) • Try-out Drills - Player and goalie try-out drills will be posted on-line at www.OMGHA.com

  17. Skill Development Update • Weekly skill development training sessions for skaters and goalies • Holistic approach: on-ice, off-ice, pre-practice and pre-game routines for all coaches/players • Off ice instruction will come from both Josh Sutton (Be-Fit) and Cal Dietz (U of M) • On-Ice Instruction will come from OMGHA coaches, High School coaches, outside expert Scott Steffen (Steffen Hockey Schools) and Andy Blaylock (Competitive Edge) • Goalies will continue to work with Zach Sikich of Pro-Hybrid Goalie Schools
