2019-2020 Budget Calendar Budgeting for a school district is a continuous, year-round process. Projections continually change based on new and changing information • June 30, 2019 Adopt 2019-20 Budget • September 15, 2019 Unaudited Actuals for 2018-19 • December 15, 2019 1st Interim Budget (Data as of October 31) • March 15, 2020 2nd Interim Budget (Data as of January 31) • June 30, 2020 Adopt 2020-21 Budget Other than the presentation of the unaudited actual financial information all other budget presentations are a combination of actuals and projections for the current and upcoming year.
May Revision Budget Proposal • No recession is forecast but the state continues to plan for a rainy day bringing the reserve to $16.5 Billion • Does not provide a new LCFF target and COLA is reduced to 3.26% • Still proposes to reduce STRS Contribution rates • Alternate proposals have been made by the legislature • No One-Time Discretionary Funding proposed • New Special Education Categorical Program being discussed at the State

Certification Definition – June 13th • Positive = A school district that, based on current projections, will be able to meet its financial obligations for the current fiscal year and subsequent two fiscal years. • Superintendent is recommending that the Board approve the 2019-2010 Adopted Budget Report with a Positive Certification • Qualified = A school district that, based on current projections, may not meet its financial obligations for the current fiscal year and subsequent two fiscal years. • Negative = A school district that, based on current projections, will be unable to meet its financial obligations for the current fiscal year and subsequent two fiscal years.
