CLG Program Review When –National Preservation Act of 1966 along with National Register and SHPOs Who – Partnership of local governments, SHPOs, and National Park Service (NPS)
What is a CLG? Certified Local Government • Local government certified by the NPS because they have an ordinance that • Establishes a local preservation commission • Establishes a local landmark program • Ensures participate in review of National Register nominations in the jurisdiction • Ensures compliance with Kansas state preservation law.

Historic Preservation Fund grants CLGs get priority consideration for these grants! • Where does the money come from? • Outer continental shelf oil lease revenues – not taxes • Passed through from the National Park Service to the SHPOS • SHPOs must pass through 10% of their annual allocation to CLGs • When do CLGs apply? • Applications available later this fall • Due March 13, 2014 • kshs.org/ 14615
