Does it matter what classes I take in middle school? • Yes! You can earn high school credits while in middle school. • Taking some classes in middle school will allow you to take upper level classes sooner . • Get started early by taking • Speech • Language other than English • Algebra I

Preparation for higher education • There are two high school graduation plans that prepare students for college. • Recommended High School Program (RHSP) • A 24-credit, college-preparatory curriculum that helps ensure that all Texas high school students take advanced mathematics and science courses • The Distinguished Achievement Program (DAP) • The state’s advanced high school graduation plan
Having fun can count, too! • Extracurricular activities are ways to learn outside the classroom. • Teens can: • Mentor a younger student • Engage in community service by volunteering • Explore possible careers and majors for the future www.careervoyages.gov
