  1. River intercalibration and standardisation needs Wouter van de Bund

  2. full intercalibration preparatory work - no boundary setting yet no intercalibration Quality elements included

  3. Macroinvertebrates • Raw data is not directly comparable between MS due to lack of standardisation • MS are reluctant to change existing methods • Indirect comparison of MS classification results through ICMi

  4. A1 Regression: Boundaries at ICM-scale

  5. Macroinvertebrates • ICMi intercalibration approach does not require strict standardisation of sampling, sorting etc. •  standardisation of minimum requirements? • Main bottleneck for intercalibration: agreement on reference conditions •  possibilities for standardisation of reference condition setting methodology?

  6. Phytobenthos - diatoms • Compilation of raw data is possible because most MS use the same methods (EN 13946 and EN14407) • Most countries use OMNIDIA software for data analysis

  7. Macrophytes, fish • Only preliminary data collection at this stage • Good possibilities for method standardisation, but… • GIGs have not developed clear views on standardisation needs at this stage
