  6. Hoover Music Department Pre-Festival Concert • Where: Hoover Auditorium • When: Thursday March 27th at 6:30pm • Cost:$3 (children under 8 $1) • Performances by: Choir, Orchestra, Band, and • Jazz Ensemble

  7. VeloYouth applications extended to March 26th. Pick your application up in the main office today. There is still room for a few more Hoover Cardinals to join the San Diego VeloYouth program. Get your application in today to reserve  your spot! See Mr. Johnes, Mr. Gonzales, or Ms. Towers for more details. • Classes held from April 7th through May 21st. • Class size is limited to 14 students. 

  8. Prom is on! Seniors! Get your prom ticket today from Mr. Acosta in the Finance Office. (*If you buy your tickets on time) Ticket price is $55.00 until March 28. After Spring Break, the cost goes up to $60. Be a savvy shopper! Save your money for your dress or tux! Get your ticket NOW at the lowest price offered!

  9. So, you think you’re so SMART?! There is an open quiz Competition every Tuesday and Thursday At 12 noon in room 1303. Bring your lunch. Students, staff, and teachers (THAT’S RIGHT, TEACHERS!) are invited to participate. The winning team gets candy bars.

  10. Cardinals Interact would like to congratulate Yuri Gomez, DeShawn Walker, Carlos Espinoza, Sofia Sarabia, and Linda Do For competing in the Rotary 4 Way Test Speech Competition. They all created and presented amazing speeches. Yuri took 1st place and DeShawn came in 3rd. They will both be continuing on in the competition.

  11. These tables outside 1001 and 1002 are not for missing your favorite class, catching up with friends or expressing your great art skills. These tables are for Circle of Friends, an inclusion program for students with special needs. We are in jeopardy of having to find a new area. Please help us continue to have a home for Circle of Friends. Attention Hoover Students Go to class and don’t hang out here during class time.

  12. ATTENTION ALL SENIORS (CLASS OF 2014)! We are looking for seniors that are interested in auditioning to give the Welcome Speech during Graduation. In the past, the following languages have been represented: • English • Spanish • French • Somali • Vietnamese • Cambodian • Amharic However, other languages are always welcomed! Auditions will be held on: Tuesday, April 8 afterschool in Counseling Center! See Ms. Naranjo or Ms. Angel-Zavala in the Counseling Center to sign up!

  13. Cesar Chavez Service Club is built on the TEN VALUES of Cesar Chavez and engages Club members in volunteer and community service activities. VALUES Help Someone (helping most needy) I believe that when our time in this world is done, we will not take any cars, clothes, or money we worked for with us, this materialistic things will be forgotten. However if we show compassion and help the less fortunate, our memory will stay with that person forever. Therefore if we do not not spend our time making someone who is lonely, homeless or forgotten feel better, we are wasting our time. Cristobal , student member Interested in joining our CLUB? Parent Leaders Committee Scholarship The purpose of the Parent Leaders Committee is to support Hoover High School students. • Pick up an application at the Parent Center. • Application Deadline: • Friday, March 28, 2014 @ 3:00 pm @ the Parent Center • Requirements: • Must be a current 12th grade Hoover student • Intent to enroll in a college, university, or vocational school beginning Fall 2014 • Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher (please provide a copy of your most recent Hoover Transcript) • Submit a typed written essay with a minimum of 500 to a maximum of 1000 words • Scholarship recipients must attend Hoover Seniors Awards Night.
