The word Shaddai • Three possible translations – and all have application for our lives • Shadad – to be strong and powerful - Omnipotent • Shadah – the God of the Mountain • Shediy – Sufficient • Shad – the nurturing one or many breasted one
The context of El Shaddai • Genesis 17 • Abraham was at a point where he struggled to cling to God’s promises • God revealed himself as the Omnipotent, All Sufficient One
So why did God wait so long • 25 years after the promise, Abraham still is waiting to see if fulfilled • How often does God wait for us to discover our impotence, before He reveals him Omnipotence?
Paul learned this one too! • 2 Corinthians 12:7-10 • Lest I should be exalted above measure • I pleaded • “My grace is sufficient” • “My strength is made perfect in your weakness” • I take pleasure in: • Infirmities • Reproaches • Persecutions • Distress
