What would I like to be known for professionally in 10 years: As an expert in ERP management and implementation… Specifically, how ERP implementation can allow an organization to easily integrate people, processes, and business units to accomplish strategic and meaningful goals.
Expert Competence: • Knowledge / Learning • Skills – Work with U. S. Steel • Concepts – Personal research • Issues – Reading trade magazines / journals • Next steps: • Continue to work with U. S. Steel, striving to implement the Business Plan automation software that I have been developing (by Oct. 2007). • Read at least 1 article per week in relevant literature. • Develop curriculum for the next year/semester.
Expert Competence: • Practice • Problem-Solving • Work with U. S. Steel • Advising • Serving as leader of the MIS Club • Evaluation • IS Planning project • Next steps: • In addition to work, build relationships with new dual-degree students, advising them on how to progress through the degree program as well as internships. • Continue to evaluate Respironics IS situation via the IS Planning course.
Expert Competence: • Networking / Dialog • Developing and maintaining professional relationships (Individual, organization, community) • Experience with professional discussions and debates • Next steps: • Attempt to approach Team Manager at work to discuss current IT topics within our company. • Attend at least one networking event by the end of this semester. • “Speakers” at MIS-Club meetings.
Expert Competence: • Reputation • Visibility and credibility within target communities • Next steps: More so than anything, I need to continue doing work that rises above the crop; occasionally standing out to impress those who matter (i.e. going above and beyond in class projects; completing quality and quick assignments at work); and leveraging the areas in which I am an expert.
