Electromagnetic Spectrum, Spectroscopy, and Fluorescence • We used an interesting device called the spectroscope, made of a shoe boxthat had a piece of plastic for diffracting the light. • We observed different light sources through the spectroscope and saw the visible part of the Electromagnetic Spectrum. • The spectra were different for the different light sources. • We used a dark room and a UV light to experiment with glow in the dark rocks, also known as fluorescence.
Lab Conclusions • In all three experiments, we learned about the wavelengths of light. • This experiment changed how we think because we didn’t realize all of the different types of wavelengths. • Natural light produces more colors than man made light.
Social Activity • Our activity was the Boiler Challenge • Everyone got into groups and did different challenges • The challenges were fun and made you think at the same time • We learned how to trust and depend on eachother
