Electric Supply Issues • Generator Derates during January on certain days tightened supply • Availability of natural gas for interruptible gas generators was limited on certain critical days • Availability of alternate fuel for certain dual fuel units was problematic on some days • Demand Response was invoked during a winter period for the first time since 2001 • Imports from PJM were limited on certain days, in fact NYISO exported power to PJM

Electric Price Issues • Winter electric prices the highest ever in January; seem to be driven by high natural gas transportation costs to generators • West to Capital price spread the highest this January/February, due to electric transmission congestion • Exports to New England contributing to higher Capital District prices
