The ‘Nestling Project’ • The ‘Nestling Project’ is a collaborative initiative in the north east of Ireland, aimed at meeting older people’s hopes to ‘age-in-place’ in comfort and dignity. The aim is to optimise quality of life and well-being through: • a greater understanding of the lives of older people (Project 1) • more strategic service interventions (Projects 2) • use and availability of technology (Projects 3) • CAVE • Mock-up apartment • 16 unit pilot ‘aware’ homes project at Barracks St.,Dundalk. • a more supportive or age-friendly community (Projects 4)

Overall problem definition and WP implementation plans Timeframe: m1 - m6 Resources: Internal resources + 1 seconded ESR from FRONTIDA The WP implementation plans include: • an operational definition human dignity and non discrimination of older population • Goals and Objectives • Deliverables • Human resource allocation • Dissemination Plans • Transfer of Knowledge • Stakeholders • Dissemination Plan
Analysis of EU policies on eInclusion and eAccessibility Responsible Beneficiary:CSSC Timeframe: m6 – m12. Resources: Internal resources + 1 seconded ESR from NETWELL - Collect, compare and discuss main EC policy documents: • areas of eInclusion and eAccessibility of older population • Agenda setting: how has EC agenda been set? What are EC policy priorities in these areas? • Policy Formulation: what parties have been and are involved in policy formulation? What policy options have been considered? • Adoption: when and by whom eInclusion and eAccessibility policies have been adopted? What are their sources of legitimation? • Implementation: have stakeholders been involved in policy implementation? • Evaluation: are there mechanisms of formal or informal review of these policies? Did these policies achieve expected results?
Collection of Business Cases Responsible Beneficiary: QUB Timeframe: m12-24 Resources: Internal resources + 1 seconded ESR from INNOVA - The responsible beneficiary will collect and compare approx. 10 business cases concerning public and private sector projects in the field of eInclusion and eAccessibility. Data will be collected according to the following grid: • What are the specific problems addressed by the project? • What are the strategic goals of the project? • What are the project’s basic requirements? • Cost/benefit justification of the project, which should include both financial and non‐financial cost and benefits, in order to take into account also societal benefits and costs. • How does the project protect human dignity of elderly people? • How does the project oppose discrimination against older people? • Lesson learned from the project
Reporting and disseminating Responsible Beneficiary: NETWELL Timeframe: m24-36 Resources: Internal resources + 1 newly recruited ER - The responsible beneficiary will collect and compare the three reports generated by A1.1, 1.2, and1.3 to draft the final report of the whole WP. This draft report will be then validated through the following procedures: • Elite Interviews: the draft report will be sent to European specialists that will be then interviewed about the report. Approx. 5 elite interviews will be collected. • Stakeholder review: the draft report will be sent for review to representative of primary, secondary and tertiary stakeholder groups. • Public consultation: submitted to an online public consultation. • Further to the validation process, the main remarks and comments will be incorporated in the document along with all actors involved in the validation process: eventually the report will be finalised.
Dissemination The final report will be disseminated amongst the main stakeholders and EU policy makers. The main dissemination targets will be: • academic community: scientific journals, academic conferences • the policy maker community: policy meetings with European, national and • regional relevant authorities; face to face contacts; delivery of documents to appropriate offices and agencies • end user community: contacts with consumer / user associations and advocacy groups • dissemination will be documented by a final dissemination report.
