Galatians 3:24 BIRTH ADULT PEDAGOGUE LEARN DISCIPLINE EDUCATION CONDUCT TRAINING
G. Walter Hansen The pedagogue “was given the responsibility to supervise and discipline the conduct of the child. He did not have the positive task of educating the child; he was only supposed to control the behavior of the child through consistent discipline.”
Galatians 3:25 • What happened when you reached adulthood? • No longer under the pedagogue • Expected to live what was taught (Gal. 5-6)
So What? • Live what was taught • 1 Cor. 4:14-17 • Recognize sin and kill it by the Spirit • Rom. 7-8 (Col. 3:1-17)
Galatians 3:26 • For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. • This is true for everyone! (28)
Let Me Sum Up • Abraham – faith, promise, blessing • Christ – the seed (heir) • We are baptized into Christ by faith • We are sons, heirs of the promise and blessing

Galatians 4:4-7 • Jesus was fully human, and lived under the Law • He redeemed those under the Law • He took the curse, they get the blessing (3:10-14)
Galatians 4:4-7 • He redeemed those under the Law, so they could become sons • All who are in Christ are sons • Our identity, our security, our hope • Not slaves, but heirs
So What? • Rest in your sonship: you are fully accepted by the Father • You have all the rights and privileges of being God’s son • Eph. 1 – hope, inheritance, power
