NER300 Funding • EU Emissions Trading Scheme • NER - New Entrants Reserve • 300 – 300 Million Carbon Credits • Approx €4.5 Billion
What’s Included “Pre-commercial demonstration of renewable technologies“ • Innovation is an eligibility criteria: projects must be innovative in nature. • Ranking is based on cost per unit performance • Projects expected to produce energy by end of 2015.
What’s Included? • 8 CCS projects • 34 RES projects, of which: • 9 Bio-energy • 5 CSP • 3 PV • 6 Wind • 4 Geothermal • 3 Ocean • 1 Hydro • 3 Distributed Renewables Management (SmartGrids)
NER300 – OCN Category • 3 Ocean (OCN) Sub Categories: • Wave energy devices with nominal capacity 5 MW • Marine/tidal currents energy devices with nominal capacity 5 MW • Ocean thermal energy conversion (OTEC) with nominal capacity 10 MW
Terminology • Reference Plant:Alternative plant on which extra Investment and operation costs are measured. • Relevant Costs: Extra investment costs + extra operating costs – extra operating benefits • NER300 will finance 50% of relevant costs • Financing under NER300 can be combined with Structural Funds, EEPR and RSFF. • Payments. Financing to be disbursed on a yearly basis during 1st 5 years of operation by the MS, as a function of the amount of energy produced.
