Connected Community Badges Potential Criteria… • Substantial, robust public communities • Programs to move private community learnings into the public sphere • Robust sharing functionality, incentives for sharing, use of sharing metrics • Robust social media strategy • Permanent home page links to other communities (e.g. blogrolls) • (Frequent) promotion of events or content on other communities via the home page and/or newsletters • (Frequent) referencing (and linking out) to content in other communities through site’s own content • Including other communities’ content in site search results
Connected Community Badges Potential Criteria… • Syndicating content and/or services to other communities • Integrating partner content and/or services seamlessly on an ongoing basis • Cultivating/supporting “influencers” who carry content from community to community, motivating/incenting them to do so • Joint or collaborative events across communities • “Joint ventures” with other communities • Participation in community aggregations/portals (the more integrated, the better) • Participation (to various degrees) in Connected Educator Month • Bringing groups together (that are ordinarily siloed apart)
Connected Community Badges Potential Criteria… • Sharing functional elements (such as profiles, badges, email sign-ups) across/with other communities • Strong dissemination metrics • Sharing of best practices and evidence of value creation for members Key Questions • Which criteria should be used? Are we missing any? • Who decides final criteria, and how? • How many badges? Are there levels? • Who decides a badge should be awarded?
