Factors that Affect CPVC Pipes Prices, Suppliers & Distributors in India There are a number of factors that determine CPVC pipe prices. These factors range from universal issues to issues specific to CPVC pipe suppliers and distributors in India. What factors impact the prices you see on a CPVC pipe fittings price list? Material Formulations CPVC pipe costs a little more than PVC pipe due to the additional chlorination to the PVC feedstock. However, CPVC pipe provides all of the benefits of PVC pipe plus a few additional ones. For example, CPVC pipe can withstand much higher temperatures. This is why CPVC pipe is a far better choice for hot water supply lines. CPVC is as easily installed as PVC pipe. CPVC is as brittle as PVC pipe at low temperatures, but this is rarely an issue in India. CPVC is equally inert on exposure to most bases, salts and acids. It can resist many but not all aliphatic hydrocarbons. And CPVC pipe can last for years. Note that neither PVC nor CPVC pipe should be used to transport esters, ketones and other aromatic solvents. CPVC that’s engineered to limit smoke production and flammability so it can be used in sprinkler systems costs more than off the shelf CPVC pipe. However, CPVC pipe has better performance when exposed to a fire than other thermoplastics. Pipe manufacturers can throw in additives that increase its resistance to ultraviolet light, but you’ll pay more for that. Volume of Material
In general, the more plastic that goes into a part, the more it costs. However, economies of scale can curtail that trend. This is why you may pay just a little more for 20 foot long CPVC pipe than 10 foot long CPVC pipe. Thicker pipe walls will cost you more. Solid end caps will cost more than hollow ones in most cases, too, for this very reason. The Engineering That Goes Into It The harder something is to make, the more it costs. Injection molding for CPVC pipe fittings can lower the production cost over shaping metal pipe, but it takes more time and effort to make non-standard fittings than the conventional 90 degree pipe elbow. Less common pipe fittings like end caps that double as access ports cost more than a mere pipe plug. Adding ball valves to a pipe bend increase the cost, too. Adding something extra to the CPVC pipe fitting like brass screw-in adapters dramatically increase the cost over a simple plastic version. The additional labor costs of engineering special requests also explains why the rolled CPVC pipes pipes you find at 22 to 60 inch diameters may be listed as available but without a price. They’ll tell you how much it costs after they determine the tooling requirements to make a batch. You may pay a little more for quality, too. Organizations that meet ISO and NSF standards have better quality control and formal quality management systems in place to ensure their products meet those internationally recognized standards. However, you’ll have the added advantage of being able to tell customers their water pipes meet these renowned standards. Or you can use that information to earn green building certifications for your new construction. On the flip side, poor quality manufacturing operations will cost you money with every defective pipe they ship you. You can’t afford to have pipes clog in a few years because the interiors aren’t smooth or leak because they aren’t as durable as expected.
