Section 1 (Russian and the Western Republic) In section 1 it mostly talks about the expansion of Russia. It was aBirth of an Empire that spread quickly in the ninth century from Vikings that were from Scandinavia. In the 13th century the Mongol warriors took over and destroyed everything that got in their path. The Mongols controlled the region until the 1500s when Ivan the Great, the powerful prince of Moscow put an end to their rule. In 1917 the Russian Revolution occurred, ending the rule of the czars. In the late 1940s tensions between the U.S. and the Soviet Union led to conflict, this Conflict was known as the Cold War because it never grew to an open warfare between the 2 nations. Later on when everything got settled, the Soviet Union built a command economy (one in which the central government makes all the important economic decisions]
Section 2 (Transcaucasia) In Section 2 it talks about Transcaucasia, which is a migration route that is a gateway between Europe and Asia. Because of all the trade routes it is full of different peoples and cultures, which brings different languages. Migration also brings a variety of religions, the most common being Christian and Islamic. All of these diverse cultures have brought conflict and tension among the groups that have even resulted in violence. In the 18th century the Russian Empire joined the the invaders, the czars eventually added Transcaucasia to the Russian Empire. Transcaucasia had a brief period of independence after the Russian Revolution, but in the 1920's the Red Army ( the Soviet Military) took control of the region. In modern days Transcaucasia has educational programs that have had a positive impact on their people. Transcaucasia also has mealtime celebrations, an example is The Georgian supra, a dinner party.
Section 3 (Central Asia) In Section 3 People went through a journey between China and the Mediterranean Sea, The Traders called this route the Silk Road. The Great Game Happened which Was when great britain and the russian empire fought over central Asia. In 1949 The Nuclear Explosion happened, which increased leukemia, thyroid cancer, birth defects, and mental illnesses. When the soviets took over Central Asia they turned the ethnic groups against each other to get in control. Many People Speak russian. They spent along time under russian and soviet rule. Nomads are people with no permanate home. The most valuable thing to a Nomad is his/her Yurt. A yurt is a tent. They Try Hard to keep their old lifestyle that they had before the Russian and Soviets to over.
