The French VOS Programme is made of 64 selected ships (1st march 2006) 6 of them are dedicated to the VOS-Clim project • 41 are equipped with a BATOS AWS (version 1 or 2) • 2 with a Mini-BATOS AWS • 7 with a MINOS AWS • 2 are until equipped with old POMMAR stations • 12 with standard materials (6 using TurboWin) 78% of the fleet is equiped with AWS BATOS AWS allows to add visual observations to the measured parameters

Expected evolution for 2006/2008 BATOS AWS version 3 is now available for the EUCOS-Surfmar Programme members Meteo-France plans to purchase/install 7 BATOSand 2 MINOS each year
Future plans (2007 to 2010) • to increase the V.O.S. Fleet to ~ 100 vessels • to increase the number of BATOS AWS to ~75/80% of the fleet • to increase the VOSClim participation (~ 20/25 vessels) • to limit MINOS AWS installations at 10/15 ships • to keep 10/15 conventionnal sensors V.O.S. equipped (+TurboWin)
