Principals’ Network Information A new application that provides the latest information about schools and the use of their links to the DET Intranet and Internet.Support Material
Purpose To provide school principals with information to assist them to monitor and manage the use of their links to the Department’s network and Internet traffic. We need to rethink the use of the web.
Accessed via the DET Portal Found under the “My applications” tab The “Principals Network Information” link opens in a new browser window.
Help Desk 1800 338 483 • If a user can’t see the link then they are missing the PRINCIPALS_INFO_APPLET role in the DET Portal. • Principals should be automatically assigned this role, whereas IT Support staff and delegated users are manually configured.
How is it used? Select your school… the type of information… and the subset of data that you wish to see… eg Current Site Map to have the results displayed here. Explanatory notes are available on each pane
Help Desk 1800 338 483 • More than one site eg Artarmon Public School and Artarmon Infants School – If a principal doesn’t see any school sites in the list, or the list contains the wrong schools then it is likely that the principal’s payroll information is incorrect or a recent payroll system update has not rolled through to the IDM database. • New principals and teachers acting up in principals’ roles may not see any schools listed. • It is possible for there to be more than one principal listed against a school since the payroll system doesn’t make any distinction between a substantive principal on leave and an acting principal.
