  1. NAHS National Art Honor Society

  2. What is NAHS? • A group of students interested in art that get together to create art, complete community service, sell artwork, and have fun! • NAHS stands for National Art Honor Society a nationally recognized art club that has many contest and scholarships available.

  3. What is required to be a member? • Pay the $25 fee before August 30th • Create at least 3 pieces of quality artwork and turn in for Mrs. Barge to sell. • Complete at least 3 hours of community service hours. • Maintain an academic weighted GPA of 90 or higher

  4. Where does my $25 go? Your $25 gets you: • a NAHS t-shirt • 2 16” X 20” canvases • Invite to all parties and NAHS events • Access to art supplies after school • NAHS membership fee of $4.00

  5. What kind of artwork can I turn in? • Create artwork on your canvases or paper. If you are turning in paper it cannot be an larger than 11X14. • Any medium can be used • Artwork must be quality work

  6. GPA requirements • Grades will be confirmed after final grades are submitted in May.

  7. What kind of community service? • Community service includes musical drama production lobby sales, festivals, face painting, and many other activities throughout the year. • Three hours are required but many opportunities are available to obtain more. • Awards are given at the end of the year for most community service hours

  8. Induction ceremony • For those who complete all the requirements we have an induction ceremony in May. • This doubles as our end of the year party with awards and food • Members must continue to be active members once inducted, for a minimum of two years in order to receive a cord. If you are inducted Junior year you must be an active member and in good standing (met all requirements) your senior year in order to receive your cord. • Cords are only given out to seniors.

  9. Christmas Party • We have a Christmas party in December with gifts, games, and fun!

  10. New items for this year • Face painting at home games and the faculty appreciation dinner • Mural painting • Adult coloring book for a holiday fundraiser (need your drawings by August 30th) • Art classes for the Special Ed. Department • Entering art contests • Guest artists afterschool

  11. Selling artwork • You will receive half the profits of any artwork Mrs. Barge sells for you. • Paperwork must be filled out after you sell the artwork in order for BHS to write you a check. Failure to fill out the forms will result in no payment. • It is up to you to come byroom 2169and fill out the paperwork each time you sell artwork. • The other half is put in the NAHS fund where a senior receives a scholarship at the end of the year.
