CAT, CAT Jr and ISearch • CAT/CAT Jr. presentation layer looking dated • CAT/CAT Jr. "broke" during the last software upgrade • SirsiDynix says e-Library in "maintenance mode" • No new item fields • No charge history • No saved lists of titles • No eBook connector (supporting digital collections) • CAT Jr. has no counterpart in the suite of SD PACs • (e-Library, BC PAC, ISearch, BookMyne, etc.) • 85% of CAT/CAT Jr. searches are from Quick Search screen
The Proposed Plan • Redesign the Welcome page prior to start of school • Fall 2019 • Plan to provide both CAT and CAT Jr. • But, make ISearch more prominent than CAT • Undertake investigation for CAT Jr replacement • Fall 2020 • ISearch will officially replace CAT (CAT removed) • Deploy new CAT Jr.
How Elementary Librarians use Cat Jr • Questions: • In what grade do you start using Cat Jr with students? • How do you use it with them? • Why did you decide to start using it at this grade? What factors contribute? • What do you see K-2 students doing when they use a website in general? • https://forms.gle/47dXB14MhLJzfwH66
