National Center for Interstate Compacts 2760 Research Park Dr. / Lexington, KY 40511 (859) 244-8256 / www.csg.org • What is the Interstate Compact on Juveniles? • Established in 1955 • Regulates interstate movement of juveniles under court supervision • Specifically, juveniles that have: • Run away from home without consent of a parent or legal guardian; • Placed on probation/parole and want to reside in another state; • Absconded or escaped from an institution in another state; • Require institutional care/specialized services in another state; and/or • Pending hearing and runs away to another state.
