  4. What Health Professions Supply Data Are Collected in New York? Surveys of: Physicians Nurse practitioners Physician Assistants Midwives Registered Nurses Dentists Dental Hygienists

  5. How Are The Data Collected? For all of the health professions, surveys are conducted at re-registration In NYS all health professionals renew licenses over a three year period (two years for physicians

  6. How Is This Effort Supported? Base funding from NYS Department of Health In-kind contribution by the NYS Education Department’s Office of the Professions Licensing boards Licensing office

  7. Educational Pipeline Surveys Annual survey of RN Deans and Directors to assess the production of new RNs in the state Annual survey of new physicians completing training in New York to assess specialty-specific demand for new physicians

  8. How Is This Effort Supported? Base funding from NYS Department of Health In-kind contribution by the state’s Directors of GME programs in the state

  9. Provider Demand Surveys Annual surveys of health care providers to learn about the most pressing recruitment and retention issues Hospitals Long term care facilities Home health agencies Local health departments Health centers

  10. How Is This Effort Supported? Base funding from a major health worker union training fund In-kind contribution by the state’s health care provider associations

  11. How Are the Data and Analysis Disseminated? Annual Reports Physicians Registered nurses Dentists Dental hygienists Physicians completing training in NY Health workforce tracking report Trends in RN education

  12. How Are the Data and Analyses Used? Local/regional/state planning Designation of federally qualified Health Professional Shortage Areas Supporting the development of FQHC New Access Point applications
