17. What are examples of places where one shouldn’t touch the items? • Behind a fence or wall • Made of stones or wood • In a covered garbage heap • If it is covered, it seems as though it is placed there to be protected. (even if it has a siman)

18. “Pigeons tied together” How are they tied? By their wings Is this knot considered a siman? No, this knot cannot serve as a siman, since all people tie them in this manner.

19. “If it is uncovered he takes it and announces it” Does that mean anything in an uncovered garbage has to be returned? No,the Gemara teaches us that this is a heap which will not be removed – if it is in a dumpster that gets removed, the finder can keep it.

20. Any object found in a garbage heap? Only if it is a large item (Gemara). A small item should be announced, whether covered or uncovered. (i.e. a fork etc.)

21. Hidden Treasures What if one finds it in an old wall? • Old wall • Unknown builder • Rusty item One is allowed to keep it. What if one finds it in a new wall? • New wall • the ancestors of the owner of the house built it • never left the family's ownership It depends on how it is positioned in the wall.

23. What if the property was rented to others? If several tenants had already lived in the house, even if he found the lost object - within the house, then it belongs to the finder. Why? Because owner despaired of it already.
