2. Muhammed Ibn Wahhab • Lived in 1700s • Taught a strict reading of the Koran that was intolerant of other interpretations • His beliefs lived on and found a refuge in Saudi Arabia • Saudi leaders allow Wahhabis to run the schools there.

3. Bernard Lewis Middle Eastern historian • Imagine if the Ku Klux Klan or Aryan Nation obtained total control of Texas and had at its disposal all the oil revenues and used this money to establish a network of well-endowed schools and colleges all over Christendom peddling their particular brand of Christianity. This is what the Saudis have done with Wahhabism. The oil money has enabled them to spread this fanatical, destructive form of Islam all over the Muslim world and among Muslims in the West. Without oil and the creation of the Saudi kingdom, Wahhabism would have remained a lunatic fringe.

5. Assassination of Robert Kennedy • Sirhan Sirhan, a Palestinian from Jordan assassinated Robert Kennedy on June 5, 1968 because of his support for Israel.

6. Munich Olympic Massacre • Black September kidnapped the Israeli Olympic team on September 5, 1972. • Most of the team was killed in the German counterattack on September 6, 1972 • The terrorists were affiliated with Yasir Arafat

7. Iran Hostage Crisis • After President Carter admitted the exiled Shah of Iran into the U.S., Iranian radicals took 66 Americans hostage. • Thirteen were released but the other 53 were held until January 20, 1981.

8. Bombing of Marine Barracks • Simultaneous suicide truck bomb attacks were made on U.S. and French compounds on October 23, 1983. • 242 Americans and 58 French were killed • Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility

9. Pan Am 103 Bombing • Flight 103 was blown up over Lockerbie, Scotland by Libyan terrorists who put the bomb on board in Frankfurt, West Germany. All 259 on board were killed.

10. World Trade Center Bombing • Car bomb planted by Islamic terrorists exploded in the underground garage. • 6 people died • 1000 were injured • Followers of Umar abd al-Rahman, an Egyptian cleric who preached in the New York City area

11. Khobar Towers BombingJune 25, 1996 • A fuel truck carrying a bomb exploded outside the U.S. military’s Khobar Towers housing facility in Dhahran • 19 dead • 515 wounded • Several groups claimed responsibility

12. U.S. Embassy BombingsAugust 7, 1998 • Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya bombed killing 291 people including 12 Americans • Embassy in Tanzania bombed killing 10 • Osama bin Laden was held responsible.

14. 911 attacks • 3025 killed • 2 planes hit the World Trade Center • 1 plane hit the Pentagon • 1 plane failed as the passengers attempted a takeover of the plane but it crashed in Pennsylvania

18. Bali Bombing • Bomb in Bali, Indonesia night club killed 202 people on October 12, 2002.

19. Madrid Bombing • Ten bombs on four trains kill 191 and wounded 2,000 on March 11, 2004 • This attack prompted Spain to leave the war in Iraq, giving al-Qaeda a big victory.

20. Beslan School Hostage Attack • September 1 to 3, 2004 • Muslims take 1200 adults and children at the school in Beslan, Russia. • There were 344 killed including 186 children

21. London Subway Bombing • July 8, 2005 • 56 killed • Hundreds wounded

22. Foiled attacks • Plot to blow up planes using liquids 8/06 • Bombs found on German trains but did not detonate. 8/06 • Plot to blow up London airport foiled. Most of the plotters were doctors. 6/07 • Imminent plot to blow up U.S. Ramstein Air Base – 8/07

24. Two Recruiters shot by Muslim American Muslim convert killed Private William Long and wounded Private Quinton Ezeagwula. Police interviews showed the assailant had religious motives for the attack.
