  2. CARdinal ballots ~ a ballot where voters are asked to rank their choices on a predetermined scale. EX: Rank each pizza choice on a scale of 1 to 10, where 10 is the highest score.

  3. Example: 9 students voted on the pizza using a cardinal ballot in the following manner: Fill in the missing information below:

  4. What information does your completed ballot give that the standard and ordinal ballots do not? The information shows the difference b/w a voter that mildly prefers one over the other and a voter that prefers one much more than the other. • Which ballot do you prefer? • Which type of ballot would you want to use to vote for something important to you?

  5. Run-off elections: Election decision ~ The process of choosing a winner. • If there is no clear winner a revote must take place … … using a standard ballot ~ the revote must take place by the voters returning to the polls. … using an ordinal or cardinal ballot ~ If no candidate obtains a majority vote, then the information from the ballots about their preferences can be used to determine a winner using a run-off election decision procedure.
