  2. Welder • The welder used in the Spanish Fork High Collision Repair Shop is a 135 amp wire feed Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welder. UVU CRT 2009

  3. Shielding Gas • A 75% Argon 25% Carbon Dioxide (C25) gas is used to protect the weld puddle from contaminates. • This mix gives a quality flat weld that is beneficial for collision work. UVU CRT 2009

  4. Gas Regulator • This is the pressurized gas regulator. • The optimum flow setting is 17 cubic feet/minute. UVU CRT 2009

  5. Inside the Welder • .023 Continuous Wire Spool. • Leads to reverse the weld polarity. • Wire Tension Control UVU CRT 2009

  6. Welding Gun Assembly Contact Tip Liner Gas Nozzle .023 Wire Gas Diffuser UVU CRT 2009

  7. Contact Tip • Wire feeds through the contact tip which provides the electrical contact. • The contact tip is a wear item that should be replaced occasionally. UVU CRT 2009

  8. Gas Nozzle • Used to focus the shielding gas over the weld puddle. UVU CRT 2009

  9. Wire Liner • The wire feeds through the liner to the contact tip. • The liner is also a wear item that should be replaced when the wire feed is irregular. UVU CRT 2009

  10. Welding Pliers • Combination style pliers for cutting welding wire and tightening contact tips etc. UVU CRT 2009

  11. Clecos • Reusable blind rivet system used to secure overlapping panels. UVU CRT 2009

  12. Air Drill • Drill 1/8” holes for the Clecos. • Drill 5/16” holes for spot welds UVU CRT 2009

  13. Cut Off Tool • Abrasive disc used to cut sheet metal panels. UVU CRT 2009

  14. Tin Snips • Aviation tin snips allow right and left hand cuts without deforming the metal. UVU CRT 2009

  15. Roloc Angle Grinder • Roloc discs are designed to remove surface contaminates from the metal without thinning the metal. UVU CRT 2009

  16. Panel Crimper • Used to crimp the edge of the panel for an offset lap weld. UVU CRT 2009

  17. Vice Grips • Holding and securing panels for welding. UVU CRT 2009

  18. Metal Hole Punch • 5/16” Metal Hole Punch. • Used for making holes in sheet metal for plug welds. UVU CRT 2009

  19. Welding Tools • These are the basic tools that will be used to perform the welds required for completion of the welding and cutting steel module. • We will discuss there correct use in the lab portion of the class. UVU CRT 2009
