  1. GLOBAL WARMING

  2. DEFINITION OF GLOBAL WARMING A GRADUAL INCREASE IN THE OVERALL TEMPERATURE OF THE EARTH'S ATMOSPHERE GENERALLY ATTRIBUTED TO THE GREENHOUSE EFFECT CAUSED BY INCREASED LEVELS OF CARBON DIOXIDE, CFCS (CHLOROFLUOROCARBONS), AND OTHER POLLUTANTS.

  3. THE GREENHOUSE EFFECT GREENHOUSE GASES THE PHENOMENON WHEREBY THE EARTH'S ATMOSPHERE TRAPS SOLAR RADIATION, CAUSED BY THE PRESENCE IN THE ATMOSPHERE OF GASES SUCH AS CARBON DIOXIDE, WATER VAPOR, AND METHANE THAT ALLOW INCOMING SUNLIGHT TO PASS THROUGH BUT ABSORB HEAT RADIATED BACK FROM THE EARTH'S SURFACE. • HEXAFLUOROETHANE • SULFUR HEXAFLUORIDE • TRIFLUOROMETHANESS • TETRAFLUOROETHANE • DIFLUOROETHANE • CARBON DIOXIDE • CARBON MONOXIDE • METHANE • NITROUS OXIDE • TETRAFLUOROMETHANE

  4. Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Fossil fuels (coal, oil, natural gas) CAUSES OF GLOBAL WARMING

  5. EFFECTS OF GLOBAL WARMING RISING SEA LEVEL INCREASED TEMPERATURE HABITAT DAMAGE AND SPECIES AFFECTED CHANGES IN WATER SUPPLY

  6. SIMPLE THINGS TO DO SOLUTION OF GLOBAL WARMING TURN OFF YOUR COMPUTER OR THE TV WHEN YOU’RE NOT USING IT. TAKE SHORTER SHOWERS. HEATING WATER USES ENERGY. KEEP ROOMS COOL BY CLOSING THE BLINDS, SHADES, OR CURTAINS. USE COMPACT FLUORESCENT BULBS. TURN OFF THE LIGHTS WHEN YOU LEAVE A ROOM.

  7. SIMPLE THINGS TO DO PLANT A TREE. DRESS LIGHTLY WHEN IT’S HOT INSTEAD OF TURNING UP THE AIR CONDITIONING. OR USE A FAN. DRESS WARMLY WHEN IT’S COLD INSTEAD OF TURNING UP THE HEAT. OFFER TO HELP YOUR PARENTS KEEP THE AIR FILTERS ON YOUR AC AND FURNACE CLEAN. WALK SHORT DISTANCES INSTEAD OF ASKING FOR A RIDE IN THE CAR. RECYCLE.

  8. ANNUAL GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSION AND OUR GOAL
