  3. What is Truth? John 18:38 • Some never come to the knowledge of truth, 2 Tim 3:7 • Some will turn away from the truth, 2 Tim 4:4 3

  4. The truth of the gospel is in Jesus Jno 14:6; Eph 4:21 WHY YOU NEED TRUTH IN YOUR LIFE 4

  5. Because you need Jesus in your life • Truth reveals Jesus and makes Him available to you, Jno 6:68; Acts 5:20 • Fellowship by following His word, Jno 14:21-23; 2 Jno 9 5

  6. Because you need Jesus in your life • Who do you go to for help? • Worldly friends? 1 Cor 15:33-34 • World’s wisdom? 1 Cor 1:21 • Self-help? Jer 10:23 • Theologians? Matt 15:7-9 • Gospel? Jno 6:68; 2 Tim 2:24-26 6

  7. Because you need to be saved from your sins 1 Tim 2:3-4; Jas 1:21 • Truth reveals salvation to sinners, Titus 2:11-12; Eph 1:13 • Freedom from sin, Jno 8:32 • Basis for faith, Jno 19:35; 20:31 • Hear & know God’s grace, Col 1:6 • Purifies your soul, 1 Peter 1:22 7

  8. Because you need to be saved from your sins 1 Tim 2:3-4; Jas 1:21 • Jesus is the only way to the Father, John 14:6 • Because truth is in Jesus, Eph 4: 21; Jno 1:17 • Revealed by apostles, Rom 9:1; 2 Cor 11:10 8

  9. Because you can only serve God in truth 2 Jn 4; 3 Jn 3-4; 1 Jn 1:5-9 • Truth sanctifies us unto God, 1 Ths 4:2-3 • -Apostles, Jno 17:17-19 • -Church, Eph 5:25-27; 1 Pet 2:9 • -Set apart for service, 1 Cor 1:2 9

  10. Because you can only serve God in truth 2 Jn 4; 3 Jn 3-4; 1 Jn 1:5-9 • What are you doing to be sure you are set apart to serve God? • -Learning and living the truth? • -Attentive during class & sermon? • -Taking time to be holy with Bible reading? 10

  12. Because you can only serve God in truth 2 Jn 4; 3 Jn 3-4; 1 Jn 1:5-9 • In order to grow to maturity, Eph 4:14-16 (Heb 5:11-6:3); 2 Pet 1:3-8 • -Christ is truly food and drink, John 6:55 • -Is truth your “favorite food”? 12

  14. Truth is the essence of God Deut 32:4 Do not “exchange the truth of God for the lie” of false gods and false teachings, Romans 1:25 14

  15. Christians must always be people of truth 2 John 1-2 • Love the truth, 2 Ths 2:10 • Obey the truth, 1 Peter 1:22 • Live the truth, 1 John 2:3-6 • Be saved through a knowledge of the truth, 1 Tim 2:3-4 15
