IPs • Your IP address scheme is based off of your team number • For example, if your team number is 1234, your scheme would be 10.12.34.x • IPs automatically used (using team number above for example) • 10.12.34.1 = Router • 10.12.34.2 = cRIO • 10.12.34.11 = Camera • 10.12.34.5-10.12.34.10 = Unused / Computer(s) • Subnet Mask = 255.255.255.0 • Default Gateway and DNS are not required.

Router • The router should be configured with the following, if your team number is 1234 • IP of router: 10.12.34.1 • Subnet Mask of router: 255.255.255.0 • No Default Gateway or DNS • DHCP server needs to hand out IP’s in the following range: 10.12.34.5 to 10.12.34.10 • Wireless SSID should be set to your team number • Optional: set up security so you have no unwanted connections

How to set up the router • Out of the box, the default IP address is 192.168.0.50 • The username is Admin • There is no password • Go to http://192.168.0.50 in your web browser • Enter in credentials • If prompted to run wizard, hit cancel or click no • Click on the “setup” tab • Then, on the left-hand side, click on “LAN Settings” • Enter in IP address, subnet mask, and then click on “Save Settings” This is valid for DAP-1522 REV. B1

How to set up the router - Continued • To set up the DHCP server: • Click on the “Advanced” tab • On the left-hand side, click on “DHCP Server” • Check mark “Enable DHCP Server” (If this is not already checked) • Set the DHCP IP Address Range to 10.12.34.5 to 10 • Set the Subnet Mask to 255.255.255.0 • Click “Save Settings”

  9. How to set up the router - Continued • To set up the wireless(SSID) : • Click on “Setup” • On the left-hand side, click “Wireless Settings” • Check mark “Enable Wireless”(If not already checked) • Set your Wireless Network Name to your team number • Click “Save Settings”

How to set up the router - Continued • If you need to reset your router to factory settings • Have power turned on to the router • Wait for router to fully boot, indicated by solid blue lights • Take a paper clip, and push the reset button next to the power supply, and hold in for 10 seconds • Remove the paperclip, and wait for the router to fully boot, indicated by solid blue lights • Proceed to set the router up using the instructions

  12. How to set up the router - Continued • The router has 4 Ethernet ports, each is a separate LAN connection. • The cRIO, Camera, and Computer (If you want to wire a computer up) should use the four LAN Ports

  13. cRIO Imaging • Your cRIO must be imaged prior to it’s first use. To do so, you must use the cRIO Imaging Tool. • The default IP address of the cRIO is 10.0.0.2 • Initially, your computer must have it’s IP set to 10.0.0.5, after imaging, it will be your team number (10.12.34.2)

  14. cRIO Imaging - Continued 3 3 • 1. To image your cRIO, ensure your computer is on the same subnet as the cRIO. • 2. Click Scan/Rescan • 3. Select the language you are using to program the robot. • 4. Select the latest cRIO image provided by FIRST • 5. Click Format Controller • 6. Enter your team ID • 7. Click Apply • Your cRIO will be imaged (This may take up to 5 minutes) 5 4 6 2 7

  15. cRIO Imaging - Continued • If there is an error, the cRIO may have be corrupted • The cRIO is corrupted if the status light is blinking in a sequence • If your cRIO is corrupted, you will have to resolve whatever caused the error and try again.

Java Configuration • In order to properly offload your code, NetBeans needs to be configured with your team number, which is used when connecting to the robot. • To configure NetBeans, first go to options, under Tools. • Click on Miscellaneous. • Click on FRC Configuration. • Insert your team number.

  17. Competition – What to expect • When you first arrive, you will need to take your access point to the pit administration table. At that point, they will configure your access point in bridge mode so that it can connect to the Field Management System (FMS). DO NOT modify settings or change the access point out of bridge mode after this point. • When it comes time for your match, make sure your dashboard is loaded and your controller(s) are plugged in. • Be sure your computer is set to DHCP, then plug in the Ethernet cable at your station. • The Driver Station should say “FMS Connected” • After this point, the FMS has the control to start and stop the match, and disable your robot in an emergency. *After competition, you will have to switch your access point back into AP mode, and reconfigure it, as shown earlier in this presentation.

Competition – What to expect - Continued • Things to check before match: • Make sure the AP is in bridge mode • Make sure the cRIO and other devices are plugged in • Make sure the AP has power • Check the connections of your controllers (sometimes Xbox controllers cables will become unplugged) • Replace battery • Charge laptop between matches

  20. Troubleshooting • Tools: • ping • Ipconfig • Verify access point settings • Verify computer settings • Verify connections – Power cables, data cables, controller cables • Make sure the robot is on and the access point has power • Change battery on robot if necessary
