DAPNIA/Pierre-Francois Honore Transarc AFS • 1993: first installation at Saclay on IBM AIX and HP UX 9 inside CERN cell • 1995: first official DAPNIA cell drives by IBM RS 6000 using TRANSARC license (no home directory) • 1996: new server IBM 43P with AFS 3.5 and 9 Go of disk • 2002: upgrade to AFS 3.6 on AIX 4.3.3.10

DAPNIA/Pierre-Francois Honore OpenAFS 2003 Migration to OpenAFS • Authentification and file servers on 2 Dell PCs running RH Linux 9 with OpenAFS 1.2.9 used by HEP physicists (1 TB) • 1 Dell PC running RH Linux 7.3 with 200 GB of SCSI drives used by astrophysicists Used as software and data repository and few home

DAPNIA/Pierre-Francois Honore Linux at DAPNIA • 150 PCs Dell running RH Linux 7 to 9 and some Debian knoppix managed with apt-get, Cfengine • 5 nodes μcluster with FC 1 : Oscar (SIS, Ganglia, PBS), openMosix, pvfs, 2.6 kernel • Since December 2003, 20 WhiteBox Enterprise Linux now apt upgraded to CEL. • Last week, 2 Scientific Linux installed • Standard services : NIS, NFS, AFS, cups

DAPNIA/Pierre-Francois Honore Linux at DAPNIA • Install using kickstart with PXE boot and a local mirror (http + apt) of the RPMs : global management tool : hardware, software, upgrade ? • Laptop issue : security patch, disk mirroring • Upgrade path : Debian (knoppix TS, anaconda), FC, FedoraLegacy, CERN, HEP
