Mini-Lit Circles: Chapters32-33 • Discussion will be led by assigned discussion leaders. As scholars read they must ensure to make meaningful annotations about what is happening in the story. • Other students will be graded based on their participation in the literature circle discussion by the discussion leader.
Exit Ticket • Write a dramatic monologue that describes Vahan’s emotions once he reaches Constantinople. • Use descriptive language to convey Vahan’s thoughts and feelings. Be prepared to support your interpretation of how he feels with evidence from the text. text!

Whole Class LiteratureCircle • This will be our last discussion about Forgotten Fire • Students will be graded by the teacher based on their participation in the literature circle discussion. • Be ZESTY and contribute meaningful comments and questions to the discussion!
Forgotten Fire PWA Work Time! • Remember, your rough draft is due in class tomorrow! • You will be grouped with other students that are addressing the same prompt to brainstorm ideas and examine evidence from the text together. • 1) One of the primary themes in Forgotten Fire is growth in maturity. Using textual examples, explain how Vahan goes from a naïve boy to a mature young man. Explain in further detail what part the Armenian Genocide plays on his maturity. • 2) Vahanlives in several places throughout Forgotten Fire, but does not feel that any of them are truly home. If “home is where the heart is,” does Vahan eventually find any place he can call home? Explain your answer in great detail. • 3) Throughout Forgotten Fire, Vahan learns to be both independent AND dependent. Explain multiple examples of Vahan independently relying on himself and examples of him depending on the kindness of others. Which trait – dependence or independence – serves him better throughout his journey? • 4) Vahan’sfather told Vahan that “steel is made strong by fire”. Does Vahan become “steel” throughout the course of the novel? Explain each example of “fire” and their impact on Vahan during his journey.

AoW15: Obama’s Legacy Project • 1) Using the evidence provided in the article, argue whether or not President Obama’s “legacy project” will benefit America. • 2) Do you believe this “legacy project” has the ability to be what President Obama is most remembered for? Explain why or why not using evidence from the article, background knowledge, and/or independent research.
Writing Buddy Time! • During this time, you and your writing buddy will be evaluating one another’s PWA’s! • Make sure to use the grading rubric, in order to provide constructive, productive, and helpful feedback.
