Workshop - 2010 Short Count Processing
Traffic Count Headers Station Headers in HDMS/RIS - 36,400 Ramps (in Off-Network Header)- 4,600 Grand Total - 41,000
Speed Count Layouts • Universal bin layout scheme: • Expanding to 15-bins that are summarized to appropriate bin range. Bin Low (<50mph) High (50+ mph) Range Range 1 1 0 -20 1 2 2 20-25 1 3 3 25-30 1 4 4 30-35 2 5 5 35-40 3 6 6 40-45 4 7 7 45-50 5 8 8 50-55 6 9 9 55-60 7 10 10 60-65 8 11 11 65-70 9 12 12 70-75 10 13 13 75-80 11 14 13 80-85 12 15 13 85-999 13
Count Processing Changes • After we shut down HDMS (?when?)…. • Change Class Bin Configuration to 14 bins – BIN 14 - unclassified vehicles • Tradas will extract Volume data from Class / Speed count files.
Header File – Changes for 2011 • Header File will be an extract from RIS DB • Additional Fields: • DOTID • Ramp Code • One Way Code • Removed – Control Code (of COC) Expands Header file from 133 to 151 chars.
Impact on TCE Processing in 2011 • Process Volume files only when there is no Class or Speed Data • Extract Header data out of RIS – new format • GPS Coordinates – on TCE header screen • Lat/Long or UTM accepted
Short Count Processing Improvements to be made……. • Combine channels of other counts to form another station. • Count Scheduling/Monitoring Software • Improve how “notes” are passed down the processing stream. • Any Other Ideas to Streamline Processing?
Ramp Counting • Station assignments: • 3000-3799 Normal, scheduled Ramp • 3800-3899 Access/Directional approaches • Not normally scheduled • 3900-3999 Count station derived by sum of 2 or more normally scheduled stations • Not normally scheduled • 6000-6999 Ramp bridge station • Some are scheduled, some are derived from others
Ramp Station Maps • \Highway Data Services Bureau\Traffic\Ramp Data\MAPS_AP\Reg XX • I-86_NY17 Exit 67.pdf • NY 5 8 12 & I-790 @ I-90.pdf • NY 5 12 @ NY8 Sauquoit Valley Art.pdf • I-88 Exit 20.pdf • NY 5 8 12 @ French Rd.pdf • I-88 Exit 17.pdf
Ramp Stations / Counts • All Ramp headers currently reside in Off- Network Header file. • Ramp Headers will be maintained in RIS DB. • Ramp Counts will be housed in Tradas DB.
