  24. EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE Guidelines • Veteran, Active Duty Military, or Immediate Family Member(parent, child, or spouse) • Honorable or General Under Honor Conditions • Show sustainability • Apply for assistance through other service organization(s) • DO NOT have to be an American Legion Member • Florida resident for at least 120 days • FUNDS: Shelter, utilities, food, somecritical medical and emergency transportation • CHECK PROCESS: paid and mailed directly to owed entity

  25. EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE Guidelines • Application / Interview does not guarantee funding • Every case is different and reviewed individually • Funds are granted on a one-time annual basis

PVR GUIDELINES EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE Defining Sustainability • Income and expenses are in balance • Have enough income to support living expenses • Provide supporting documents showing steady income • (pay stubs, VA award or SSI letter, etc.) • Have worked within the last 90 days • Excellent prospects of a job within 30 days - EX: intent to hire letter from future employer

EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE Things We Don’t Cover • Late Fees • Lawyer Fees • Furniture • A/C Repairs • House Repairs • (roof, windows, etc.) • Supplemental Education • Clothing • Moving Expenses • Hotel Expenses • Any Reimbursement • Funeral Expenses • Field Trips • Vacations • Travel • Ongoing conditions • (cancer treatments, etc.)

EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE Types of Hardships • ACCEPTED: • Hurricane Damage • (not covered by insurance) • Recently Lost Job • Car Accident • Funeral Expenses • Company Went Bankrupt • Burglary / Identity Theft • Hospitalized • Unexpected Moving • Vehicle Repairs • Government Shutdown • NOT ACCEPTED: • Had a Baby • Mismanagement of Funds • Supplement Education • Incarcerated • Traffic Violations • Pay Someone Else’s Bills • Need New Wardrobe • Birthday Party Expenses
