  8. ROCKS Review Choices!

  9. What does the C in ROCKS stand for? • The C stands for Choices. • As a student at Russell, it is up to you to make choices that will help you succeed at school, build strong relationships with those around you and help you get ready for life in high school and beyond. • Making the right choices is not always easy… let’s go through a few scenarios to keep in mind this semester.

  10. What would you do? • You lost all your History Day research. • That’s not the worst of it… you don’t even think you really understand what your topic is about. • Whenever you hear History Day, you want to run out of Ms. Richman’s room and go hide. • What choices could you make to help make things better?

  11. What would you do? • You thought you were having a good day… until you had a substitute teacher who would not give you a break. • You weren’t doing the work correctly. You were talking when you were not. You gave her a dirty look. Essentially you were not doing anything right. • What choices could you make to make things better?

  12. What would you do? • You have a quiz in social studies. • Normally you wouldn’t worry but you dropped your binder outside, it broke and somehow you lost your notes. • You don’t remember everything you discussed in class and you know Ms. Richman is going to do a notes check. • What choices could you make to make things better?

  13. What would you do? • You are trying to listen in class but a kid near you is being totally obnoxious. • He is one of your friends. • He won’t stop whispering to you and other people around you. He won’t stop throwing things behind the teacher’s back. He is starting to get on your last nerve. • What choices could make things better?

  14. What would you do? • You are doing awesome in 2014. School seems so easy and all your teachers are praising you. And why shouldn’t they? You are awesome. • Then you hear that you have a test in social studies, math and science all on the same day. • What choices could you make to keep things good?

  15. In other words… • Make Smart Choices! • It may mean more work but it will make your experience in school and life better!
