  2. Please listen CAREFULLY • Enrollment is important. It helps the school properly staff teachers and impacts choices you can make. • Fill out the enrollment card seriously or you could get stuck taking classes you do not want. • Be sure and list alternates on the card because you might have conflicts and some classes you pick may not be offered. • Make sure you include your parents in your course selection.

  3. Graduation Worksheet/audit sheet • Listen carefully as the audit sheet is explained. (turn to page 60 in the planning guide) • 5.5 credits sophomore • 11 credits junior • 16 credits senior • 23 credits graduate • This audit turns into your transcript which will be sent to colleges. • If you notice a problem with the audit, see your counselor to discuss. • Fine arts, computer applications, repeat credits?

  4. Honors Classes • Students should have a discussion with their parents and current teachers when selecting an honors class. • You will be recommended for AP/Honors math courses by your math teacher. Honors English students will be given a contract to sign. This will be given to you from your English teacher. • A student can self select honors classes as long as you understand the rigor involved and meet the prerequisites. • You are encouraged to sign up for any class as long as you understand the commitment you are making.

  5. Reading the Planning Guide • Grade level • Prerequisite • Semester or year • Description of the class • Standard, Enrollment based or Optional • Number of times a class can be taken

  6. Specific Information • All district high school students are eligible to enroll in any signature course as full-time students on transfer or as part-time students, schedule permitting. See program planning guide and discuss options with your counselor if interested. • Programs include: Broadmoor (pg 33), Biomedical and Pre-medical (SMN pg 36 and 55), Biotechnology (SMW pg 38), Project Lead the Way (SMS pg 57), Legal Studies (SME pg 53) and IB programs at SME (pg 40),SMNW (pg 49), and SMN (pg 45).

  7. Filling out the Enrollment Card • Check your name and student number and current grade. • Write the class you intend to take on the enrollment card and make sure the number is clearly written. If it is a year long class, draw a line through second semester. If it is a semester class, you need another class selection for second semester. • Fill in alternate choices. (very important) • Parent signatures. • Use the note section to write down anything you want us to know that makes your card unique. (Tryout classes) • The card should be completely filled out.

  8. Other Information: • Don’t forget about fine arts (pg 60) and computer applications. • You cannot sign up for a lab right now. • All students must have a full schedule. • To be eligible for sports or activities next year you must pass 5 classes with a letter grade this semester. (pg 70) • Write down when we are coming back to pick up the completed card (next week). • Only sign up for a study hall if you know you want one. • College bound? Some colleges require 4 years of math and science and 2 years of a foreign language. Check the admissions requirements at the schools you’re interested in.

  9. More specifics: • “To be Junior” corrections --- Health is not on the cheat sheet- add #9220 --- US History IS a year long course- X out 2nd semester • Art (pg 1) • PE credit (pg 18) • Three science credits • Course costs (pg 77) • 2 maximum lab credits • Four year planning worksheet • Qualified Admissions (pg 80 & 81) • Night and eSchool (pg 35) • ROTC at West (pg 30)
