  2. 1. Khol Barana and Tikka • These are the pre-wedding ceremonies. During the Khol Barana ceremony, the groom’s family presents the bride with a silver plate containing a blessed coconut and Shagun. In the Tilak ceremony, the bride’s family visits the groom’s home, bringing gifts to mark the occasion.

  3. 2. Lagana Lekhan or Lagana Patrika Vachan Lagana Lekhan is a small puja held at the bride’s home. Following this, the groom performs the Vinayakyantra puja, also known as Lagana Patrika Vachan. This ceremony can be conducted on any auspicious date, during the ring exchange, or as determined by the priest.

  4. 3. Sagai or Engagement In the Jain community, the tilak ceremony involves the bride's family visiting the groom's home to exchange gifts, sweets, and blessings, symbolizing the official engagement and the family's approval of the union.

  5. 4. Mehendi Similar to customs in many other communities, this ceremony involves applying intricate mehendi designs on the bride's hands and legs, as well as the groom's hands. The detailed patterns symbolize joy and beauty, marking an important pre-wedding ritual in their cultural traditions.

Bana Betai In the Jain community, the traditional haldi ceremony is uniquely observed by applying a paste made from chickpea flour, or besan, to the bride and groom's bodies, rather than the usual turmeric paste. This is followed by a ritualistic bath, symbolizing purification and preparation for their new life together. The use of besan reflects Jain customs, which emphasize purity and simplicity in their pre-wedding rituals.

  7. 6. Mada Mandap The Mada Mandap is a sacred space in Jain weddings where key rituals are performed. Decorated with flowers and symbols of purity, it's where the couple takes vows, signifying the union of two souls in the presence of family and deities.
