On them, he stated: “I spent my life looking in the mirror and thinking, I don't get it - that's not me. The first time I got dreads, I caught my reflection in a window. and it was the first time that I saw me. It was like the first time I wrote a song.”

Band History: Worked with several bands in the Bay area in the late ’80’s and early ‘90’s, one of which was the Himalaya’s. He was also working on a side project at the time called The Counting Crows. It was with The Counting Crows in 1993 that he got his big break.
Style The Counting Crows is a difficult style to pin down, but if I had to I would say it’s a fusion of rock and blues with a folk twist. Adam Duritz plays the piano and is the lead vocalist in the band, but the band consists of large array of instruments. Depending on the song, you can hear any of the following: guitar, accordion, keyboard, banjo, mandolin, drums, and bass. Overall there are 7 members in the band.
Influences Adam Duritz has said that some of his main influences are:
Most Popular Songs Mr. Jones Accidentally In Love Big Yellow Taxi Mrs. Potter’s Lullaby (my personal favorite)
