  3. concentration (noun) Meaning: focusing your thoughts and attention on something Example: Loud music disturbs my concentration when I am reading.

  4. foundation (noun) Meaning: the base or basis of something Example: He’s trying to build a solid foundation in algebra by memorizing all the important equations.

  5. fundamental (adjective) Meaning: basic and necessary; essential Example: We packed only the fundamental supplies for our hike on the mountain: food, water, sunscreen, and a cell phone.

  6. suspend (verb) Meaning: to stop something for a short time; to pause Example: I am going to suspend my mail delivery until I come back from my vacation.

  7. compassion (noun) Meaning: a feeling of sympathy for and a desire to help someone who is suffering Example: When Kevin saw how sick his friend was, his heart was filled with compassion.

  8. devoid (adjective) Meaning: without something or empty of something Example: People who are rude to others are devoid of good manners.

  9. intellectual (adjective) Meaning: involving thought or reason Example: On rainy days, Raina likes to participate in intellectual activities, such as reading ancient history and playing chess.
