  1. Methods of Cutting Stainless Steel Sheets Sydney There are various methods used to cut stainless steel sheets. One must consider technical aspects while choosing one that includes the production speed, quality of the cut, and performance issues. Listing down few methods of cutting Stainless Steel Sheets Sydney: ● Laser cutting – high precision and productivity The laser cutting method is one of the most advanced cutting methods that use a high-energy infrared focused beam of laser cutting to provide a cut of less than 1 mm width to prevent material loss. The laser cutting process is known for its precision and superb quality of the cut surface. The laser cutting method develops a heat-affected zone (HAZ) on the boundaries of the cut surface. As the laser cutting method is considered a cost- effective method and produces efficient results, producers choose the laser cutting method to cut thin stainless steel sheets. ● Waterjet – accuracy at greater thicknesses Waterjet throws water that cuts the stainless steel with the sharp-edged cutting sand under extremely high pressure (4000-6000 bar). Often the width of the cut is 1 mm. The waterjet method is mostly used to cut the thicker stainless steel sheets of around 40 mm and above. It is designed to eliminate the taper that appears when cutting the great thickness.

  2. Waterjet is quite an expensive method, so it is used when the quality and the manufacturing tolerance is critical, but the Stainless Steel Sheet thickness is beyond the range of the laser’s limitations. ● Plasma – great material thicknesses Plasma is known as the fourth state of matter and is usually superheated, electrically conductive gas. An inert gas like hydrogen, argon or just shop air is released at such a high pressure through a very fine nozzle with an electrical arc to form the plasma jet. This method reaches an extreme temperature when in contact with a conductive metal. Plasma offers a less quality cut surface and wider tolerance. However, the primal technology of plasma is invaluable for cutting yeh stainless steel plates with great thickness where less accuracy can be accepted. It is also beneficial in providing good productivity levels at low cost and unlimited cutting length. ● Saw cutting – low-cost but with wider tolerances Saw cutting is one of the most traditional methods advanced in terms of its capability and [precision with the launch of machine technology. A lot of manufacturers use variable speed bands to cut the broad range of stainless steel sheet thickness. The CNC technology and hydraulic motors help in adding control and repeatability for the powerful sawing capabilities. It also features abrasive wheels for both dry and wet cutting of plate steel. When cutting a thickness of up to around 650 mm, the saw offers a low-cost method. They are beneficial as they produce minimal heat into the material to avoid any distortion. The saw cutting method is most beneficial when there is no limitation of long sheets and wider tolerance is not in concern.
