  1. Difference Between Good and Bad Welding Machines

  2. Introduction • With the various welding machine users out there, it is ideal to know the different types available before investing in any machinery. • Some are more rudimentary while others offer more advanced functions. • Depending on what you need, of course, it is advised to be aware of what to look for to meet your welding needs.

  3. There are 4 common standard welding processes that welding accessories technologies are good for MIG, Oxy, TIG, and Stick welding. • Not all on the market are made with quality, so knowing what to look for can help ensure you don't invest in a low functioning welding machine.

  4. MIG Welding Machines

  5. Metal Inert Gas or MIG welding machine uses electric arc forms within consumable wire electrodes and is known for being the most common type to use for at home use. • The materials used for this kind of welding are stainless steel, aluminum, and mild steel.

  6. The main sign of bad MIG machinery includes crackdowns in the bead, lack of uniformity, discoloration of the parent metal, and a thin structure. • Before buying any MIG machine, do make sure to read any welder reviews online to give you a better insight on its features and functions.

  7. Oxy Welding Machines • Oxyacetylene or Oxy welding isn't the most widely used form of welding, as its best use is for maintenance work or gas metal cutting. • The technique utilizes the mixture of acetylene and oxygen gas that creates a flame which in turn melts the steel.

  8. Usually used for brazing soft metals like bronze, copper, or aluminum, this technique is best for the not so heavy duty welding.  • The best way to find out if this weld is not of quality is if it lacks penetration strength, has over-sized material, an undercut, any overlapping, cracks, or incomplete fusion. • Unfortunately, hard spots or excessive grain growth can't be seen visually so reading welder reviews can be helpful.

  9. TIG Welding Machines

  10. Tungsten Inert Gas or TIG welding is similar to less common oxy acetylene gas type welding but requires a bit of mastery expertise to operate properly. • An arc method of welding, this machine uses non-consumable tungsten electrodes that produce the weld. • Many welding machine reviews praise this type of welding because of the longevity it offers.

  11.  Although difficult to master, once you do get the hang of it, it's considered to be one of the most sturdy welding machine types out there. • The cleanup post welding is also significantly less compared to other methods. • Materials used are non-ferrous metals, magnesium, copper alloys, and stainless steel. • If burnout is visible, erratic beads, undercutting, or no filler metal is used, then the TIG welder is likely not worth purchasing.

  12. Stick Welding Machines

  13. Stick welding or shielded metal arc is the oldest type of welding there is. Very simple and old fashioned in terms of usage but produces exceptional strength when it comes to welding. • Best used for thick materials, a stick weld can get through various materials. • Most welding accessories technologies that use this form of machinery often are a bit bulky, but some have been revamped to have less weight and girth.

  14. How the stick weld works is with single electrodes which heat up at fast rates to then melt two parts together. • Its rod is also usually coated in flux and is known to help shield the weld and protect itself from contamination. • The only downside to look into is if its consumable rod has a high capacity, as maintenance can be tedious.

  15. Conclusion • With the different types of welding machines, it is crucial to read welding machine reviews to get a better understanding of what brands to look out for. • With so many to choose from, seeing actual feedback of customers can be helpful.
