Systemarchitecture (1) “In co-operation between the research libraries it-systems are developed, purchased or operated, which strengthen the individual research library’s purpose. The systems comply to common standards, participate in the common (3-layer-) architecture and will be freely available in the extent, which is appropriate.”
Systemarchitecture (2) • Basic organization established for two project suites: • Authentication- and Authorization- infrastructure (AAI) • XML Webservices and 3-layer architecture (XWS) • A. Handling national and international relations • B. Dissemination of results • C. Service for the Danish libraries on developer level • D. Participation in concrete development activities with qualified persons

Systemarchitecture (4) • AAI • Local authentication • Statistic module for DEF proxy servers • Pilot project: Counting system and pay-per-view solution for common purchases • XWS • Pilot WebServices: • Danish kernel journals • Danish sound/music • International e-prints • Danish library catalogues • Danish library directory
Portals (1) “In co-operation between the research libraries subject specific and personalized entries to the libraries common information resources and tools for establishment of such entries are developed. A co-operation for relevant parts of the common information resources is established (DEF-cat).”
Portals (2) • Theme 1: Support for further development of subject portals- 2004 • Theme 2: Evaluation of portals - 2004 • Theme 3: Update of deff.dk • Theme 4: Further development of Defcat • Theme 5: Personalization and institutionalization - 2005
Portals (3) • Final development of ToolKit Lite and update on subject portals • ToolKit Lite (TKL) is used for standardized portal building • TKL is developed and complete for replacement and improvement of the earlier insufficient tool • 9 subject portals use TKL, 2 under conversion to TKL • Both local operation and hotel operation are possible
Portals (4) • Consolidation of operation for deff.dk • deff.dk consists of parallel developed and parallel operated systems in several tools • Modules moved to TKL and operation consolidated at Aalborg University Library • Pro´s: • simplified maintenance of screen lay-outs • possibility for more efficient development of new modules
User facilities (1) “A co-operation for the end-users information competence is developed and services is established, which enables the end-users to get guidance and education in information searching via the Internet”
User facilities (2) • Usability project • Via empiric data about usage the presentation of services on the libraries websites is prioritized • Usability competence is developed in the examined libraries • Urge to maintain the achieved usability competence locally and to use it for the continuing evaluation and re-design of the libraries web-sites • Biblioteksvagten (On-Line reference service) • SWIM (Streaming Video Instruction Modules)
Licences (1) “In co-operation between the research libraries the binding purchase co-operation for digital information is extended. A co-operation for registration of journals and usage statistics is developed.”
Licenses (2) • Purchase of the journal service TD-Net • Requirements for a new journal service for deff.dk: • simplification of the administration of purchased license packages • access to pay per view • searching- and alert-functions • high updating speed for data • Test-project completed in co-operation with the libraries • TD-Net chosen for a 2-year period: • common journal directory for the DEF-purchases • local journal directories with possibility for adding local purchases • Purchase of the last number of years of back-files for the ISI database Web Of Science
Digitization The program area has not been established due to the lacking substantial funding
E-learning (1) “A concrete co-operation is established for integration of library services in virtual learning environments. Furthermore the co-operation includes clearing of rights, standards, preservation and general exchange of experiences concerning support for e-learning”.
