  2. REAL WORLD PROBLEM:D Sue is buying her and two friends Ice Pops. If the ice pops cost $5 a piece. How much will she spend on the Ice Pops?

  3. The Equation The equation is: Y=5x or f(x)=5x x= the number of ice pops Y= the total amount

  4. Independent and Dependent • The is my x which is the number of ice pops sold. • The Dependent Variable is my y which is total amount of money. • We know that yDepends on x. • So the total amount of money Depends on the # of ice pops. Independent Variable

  5. Table of Values

  6. Domain and Range Domain is the x values. Range is the y values. So my Domain is D:{1,2,3,4,5} And my Range is R:{5,10,15,20,25} R A DOMAIN G E

  7. Is it Continuous or Discrete? • Since my data contains only points and NOT a line, then it is a discrete graph. • You can not purchase 1.5 ice pops, you can only purchase the ice popsby 1, 2, 3.

  8. Is it a Function? • A Function is when the x values DO NOT repeat. • So, Yes it is a Function the x’s do not repeat.

  9. Ice pop graph<3 25 20 15 10 5 0 Total amount of money 0 1 2 3 4 5 Total number of ice pops

  10. So…The answer is… • The answer depends on how many ice pops she buys. She can spend between $5-$25 (without tax).
