MLA in-text citations • Paraphrasing (Writing in your own words) • NaCl is an ionic substance made up of the ions Na+ and Cl- (ChemAttack). • Direct Quote (Writing in an author’s words) • “The most ubiquitous ionic compound in the world is common table salt” (ChemE).
In case you quote more than 3 lines • This would represent your regular text where you introduce the quote in double spacing: • Then the quote is written in single spacing like this. Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blahhhh. (Chemomatic)
For the Works Cited page • You start it on the next blank page. • Web pages would be written in this format: • Last name, First name. Web site name. Publication date. Name of organization or company. Date you accessed page. <http://www... >
For the Works Cited page • If you don’t have an author, the first thing you write would just be the web site name. • Your in-text citation and works cited should match. • Ex. • (Jones) and Jones, Bob. • (Molecules) and Molecules with silly or unusual names.
Independent work • As you are writing, make in-text citations so you know where you got your information from. • Due at the end of class: • At least 3 Sources and 1 Paragraph 8
